School transport

School transport is organized when the distance to the nearest school is longer than five kilometers. For first graders, the distance to school needs to be longer than three kilometers. Public transport is the first choice means of transport if only it is available.
Applying for school transport
You can apply online or send a paper application to the Education and Care Info (Sivistys ja hyvinvointi). You can download and print the application here. Send the application at: Hämeenlinnan kaupunki, sivistyksen ja hyvinvoinnin palveluohjaus, Vankanlähde 7, 13100 Hämeenlinna or leave the application at the residents’ service point.
Temporary school transport
You can also apply for temporary school transport for your child if he or she has suffered from an injury and for this or other reason cannot commute to school on his or her own.
Morning and afternoon classes or clubs
If a child participates in morning or afternoon preschool classes or clubs, school transport cannot be organized as it is applies only to at-school time.
Transport from one address only
Transport is organized from a child’s official address that is stated in the population system even if parents have joint custody.
