CORONAVIRUS TESTS
HOME TESTS
If you have mild symptoms and do not belong to a risk group, you can take a home test, if you want.
A positive home test result does not need to be confirmed by a laboratory test if:
- your symptoms are mild
- you do not need a formal decision to get an infectious disease allowance.
The home test is more reliable if repeated after 2-3 days, even if the result was negative but you still have symptoms.
See the video for instructions on home testing:
WHEN SHOULD I BOOK FOR AN OFFICIAL TEST?
People over 12 years of age:
Book for the test if you have symptoms and:
- work as medical, nursing and customer service staff in health and social/disabled/elderly care
- are at risk of severe illness
- you are pregnant
- you are over 40 years old and not vaccinated against Covid-19 nor have you suffered from Covid-19 before.
Get the test if it has been recommended to you by a healthcare professional.
Children under 12 years of age
A child under 12 years of age should be tested for coronavirus if they have symptoms of coronavirus infection, and
- if the child’s symptoms require a test in the opinion of a healthcare professional.
- the child lives in the same household or meets regularly with family members or persons aged 16 or older whose immune system is weakened
How to book an appointment for the test:
You can book for a test for yourself or your child at Omaolo online service.
If you can’t do it online, please contact your health care center.
In Hämeenlinna, the testing point is located at Viipurintie street.
If you need a test to be able to travel, you need to take it at a private clinic.
